The first draft of Winter was complete in December of 2006. Since then I’ve done three additional drafts and queried agents by the dozen. Only a handful of people have even read Winter.
I have no doubt that if God wants this book published, then he will make the way. But I am equally as convinced, that God has called me to minister through my writing. Two and half years is quite enough for this book to sit stagnate in my computer. If it’s meant to be a ministry, then it needs to be ministering.
Therefore I present to you a Friends and Family Special Edition. I won’t break into full-time writing with this, but it’s a way for Winter to be read and to speak the messages God has put within. Let it minister to you and to everyone you know.
Sincerely,
Keven
Sometimes, the power of God comes from within…
As a new Christian, Winter Maessen gives herself more completely to God than anything in her entire life. This self-proclaimed “Goth in rehab”, has a faith that grows exponentially with each passing day. All too soon it becomes apparent that her faith is no ordinary faith. The voices, visions, and premonitions that suddenly come to her on a daily basis can only be described Biblically as one thing… prophecy.
When she enters her freshman year at Tishbe University, she struggles to understand and control her new prophetic ability. Nothing seems to go right. Her roommate is a ditz, her door key doesn’t always work, and an annoying English professor seems to have it in for her. After a classmate shows up dead, Winter makes it her mission to discover the mastermind behind the attack and to exonerate the student who was wrongfully accused.
Will the faith of this young prophetess be enough to stop the school from turning against its Christian roots? Can her visions and premonitions lead her to discover the truth about the mysterious visitor that seems to be behind everything? Only one thing is certain, it’s going to be a long year.

Here’s what readers have to say about Winter…
Good book! It kept me interested, which is saying something. Honestly, I was very surprised by how good it was. God has given you a gift. – DeAnna Newsome
We’ve all read and heard of the prophets of old. How God used them to lead his people and give them direction. Keven Newsome has a wonderful imagination and a careful attention to detail that brings to life this story of a modern day prophetess. It is full of action and mystery, and will keep you wanting more. I can’t wait for the next installment. - Matt Parish
WOW!!! The book was GREAT!!! It normally takes me about a month to read a book these days – between two children I only have about 30 mintues a day to myself :) But, it took me only 6 days to read….it was that good! I am passing my book to my mom and sister to read next! I can’t wait for the sequel :) – Amy Arrington
I feel as if I am standing beside Winter, seeing what she sees, hearing what she hears. It makes the environment a rich and believable one. That ability is what (to me, anyway) sets apart good authors and mediocre ones. – Holly Culver
FIND AN AGENT! DON’T WAIT! – Ruth Robbins
Once I’m done with it I know a teenager who needs some Goth Rehab and this may be of an encouragement to her. Almost done with the book and don’t want to put it down, but alas, bedtime rolls around. I cannot wait till Legacy comes out too. Keven Newsome really knows how to write a story that as you read it you feel like you are there right next to Winter and her friends, what a talent! I love the story of a girl finding her way now as an adult and seeing her unique ability of foreseeing things as a gift from God to solve the mystery unraveling. – Lisa Memolo
