Psalm 84:10

“A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.” Psalm 84:10 (NLT)
Ok, now that I have a song wedged in my brain…
I really like this scripture. I don’t know that I’ve ever looked it up and read it before. The thought of being able to spend just one day in the presence of God. How would it feel? I can’t fathom the peace, love, and joy that would fill the air. Not to mention God’s glory! My mind can’t conceive…..
I enjoy many places…relaxing in the mountains, Disney World, I’m sure I would love Europe, or Alaska…but would forever spent in any of those places compare to one day with God? Absolutely not.
The second part of the verse is priceless: “I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.” It reminds me of a conversation in a high school sunday school class. We were discussing our crowns in heaven. One of my friends made the comment that he’d rather be a street sweeper in heaven than to not be there at all. Isn’t that so true? I would stand at the door to let people in, maybe never seeing God’s face, but to be surrounded by His glory. I would choose that over the “good life” on earth anyday.
Would you?
Just a thought…

*Father, help me to want nothing more than a true relationship with You. To desire daily time in Your presence, and seek it out. No distraction should be too much to keep me from Your throne. Thank You for Your blessings, and Your grace. Amen.*
